Weight Loss Surgery Patient – Debbie

Debbie underwent weight loss surgery with our Orange County bariatric surgeon. After Debbie weighed nearly 300 pounds she was convinced that she would die. She came to see Dr. Peter LePort, underwent the surgery, and lost more than 180 lbs. After her weight loss, Debbie feels like she has begun life anew.

My name is Debbie Magnuson. I weighed over 360 pounds. I was so heavy that I could not actually get on a balance beam scale and find out what my weight was; I was too fat. I knew I was going to die. I knew if I did not get that help I would never see my new grand baby being born. I would be buried probably I figured August of 2004. Fortunately, I came to Dr. LePort and his staff. They helped me in getting all the paperwork filled out, educated me on what I needed to do for myself to prepare for surgery, and once qualifying, I was able to go all the surgical procedure, and now three and a half years later, I have lost a 180 pounds, and I have my life back. You know having my life back and being physically fit has just been such an incredible journey for me. I had no idea really what to expect. I mean I was at my rope’s end and I have been able to climb upstairs, put a seatbelt on without having to wear an extension. The simple things in life that we all take for granted, breaking the toilet seat when you sit on it, those things that I do not do anymore, and I can actually wear a bathing suit and not be embarrassed, being able to hold my grandchild on my lap to be able to hug someone and actually get all the way around them and they to be able to get all the way around me. Those are things that we should never take for granted and once you had this procedure you don’t.
