LAP-BAND® System – Orange County & Los Angeles

The LAP-BAND® System procedure performed by our Orange County and Los Angeles-area based bariatric surgeons allows for a smaller stomach pouch that can be adjusted by changing the size of the band. It’s the simplest kind of bariatric surgery, requiring the least amount of surgical time and recovery time.

The LAP-BAND is a bariatric procedure that we do for patients who are morbidly obese. It’s probably the simplest procedure that we do requiring the least amount of surgery. We do the surgery laparoscopically as well and because there is minimal dissection involved in placing the band around the top of the stomach, there is less surgical complications and patients find that attractive because many patients who want to undergo a weight reduction surgery do not feel comfortable with all of the surgery involved with doing gastric bypass. Many patients say I don’t want my intestine rerouted. Because the band is reversible, therefor we can take it off if patients don’t like it. That is also an advantage and it is adjustable, so we can essentially control the amount of restrictions that patients feel from the band.
