Bariatric Surgeon Philip Chin, M.D. – LA & Riverside

Dr. Philip Chin, a surgeon of the Lite & Smart DIMENSIONS™ in Los Angeles and Riverside, is a general surgeon who focuses his practice on bariatric surgery. Dr. Chin loves getting to know his patients and monitoring their progress over the months and years after LAP-BAND® and gastric bypass surgical procedures have been performed.

I am originally from Chicago where I was born and raised, and I went to undergraduate in college at Northwestern University in Chicago. I did my training in general surgery at Medical College in Wisconsin and then after that I did some additional training in cancer surgery at the City of Hope in Southern California. I have been doing bariatric surgery for about nine years now. What's really nice about it with my background in cancer surgery is that bariatric surgery similarly is management of a chronic condition. With general surgery typically you take care of a problem and you never see the patients again. With bariatric surgery, we are able to see the patients from the very beginning of this process and then overtime see them in the future and see sort of the difference you have made in the patient's life and that's very rewarding.
