Bariatric Surgeon Kelly M. Francis, M.D. – Orange County

Dr. Kelly M. Francis, a surgeon of the Lite & Smart DIMENSIONS™ in Orange County, specializes in bariatric surgery. Dr. Francis performs gastric bypass surgery as well as LAP-BAND® surgery for overweight patients from Los Angeles, and the surround areas of Southern California. She enjoys forming personal, long-term relationships with her patients.

I am a general surgeon here in Fountain Valley. I specialize in bariatric surgery and also do a little bit of general surgery as well. I trained in New Orleans. I went to medical school at Tulane University and from there I did my surgical residency at Tulane as well. When I finished my surgical residency, I did an advanced laparoscopy fellowship at USC and after that I joined Dr. LePort and the practice here in Fountain Valley. I trained with him. I ended up doing 150 gastric bypasses that year and since that time I have done over 900 gastric bypasses and bariatric has become only about 70% of my practice. The most gratifying part of being a surgeon is knowing that what I do is initially going to take care of the problem that the patient has. As far as doing bariatrics, I enjoy that immensely because I get to follow my patients for quite sometime, the bariatric patients we get to see them and follow them over two years or more, and get to see their medical problems resolve as well as a lot of their social problems resolve. We see a lot of happiness come in the patient's life and that’s nice to see.
