Will the LAP-BAND® System Work for Me?
As with gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy procedures, there are several different factors to look at when evaluating an individual’s candidacy for LAP-BAND® surgery. Not everyone is qualified for weight loss treatment with this gastric banding system, and the bariatric surgeons of Lite & Smart DIMENSIONS™ will only recommend the LAP-BAND® System to candidates who meet certain criteria, including medical considerations and psychological readiness. Overweight or Morbidly Obese
The LAP-BAND® System is recommended for individuals who are more than 75 pounds overweight and have not found success with other weight loss methods such as diet and exercise. Appropriate candidates also have a high body mass index (BMI); typically, our LAP-BAND® candidates have a BMI of over 40, though we consider candidates with a BMI of between 35 and 39.9 if they suffer from obesity-related health conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
