People who experience heartburn more than twice a week may have GERD. ( Gastroesphageal Reflux Disease) The symptoms of GERD vary, but often are severe enough to affect quality of life. Many people experience constant pain and burning and sleep disruption. Many have to avoid foods they love because of it.
There is a new procedure called TIF that the doctors at Smart and Lite Dimensions are performing. This is an incisionless procedure with virtually no down time! The procedures is done transorally( through the mouth) with special scopes and instruments.
We are having seminars in the upcoming months for people interested in this exciting procedure. Please call the office at 714-861-4666 to find out more!

The gastric sleeve procedure is now available to our patients in Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange County!!
Many patients are interested in having the gastric sleeve operation because it is not as invasive as the gastric bypass surgery, and is more effective for weight loss than the adjustable gastric band.
Gastric sleeve or vertical sleeve gastrectomy is performed by creating a long tubular pouch in the stomach, about the shape of a banana. There is no rerouting of the intestines and food travels through the digestive system in the usual manner.
Sleeve gastrectomy is also a good option for patients who have a very high BMI,or their comorbids are too serious to undergo gastric bypass surgery.
Please call the office if you have any other questions about the sleeve gastrectomy!

The patient eligibility criteria for adjustable laparoscopic bands is changing!  Our practice is now accepting patients with BMI 35-40 without serious comorbidities. This change will allow more people access to this powerful weight loss tool.
In the past, our practice required a BMI of 40, or 35-40 with either hypertension, sleep apnea or diabetes. Please call if you are interested in lap band surgery. We take patients and insurance companies from all over Orange, Los Angeles and Riverside counties!
